Q: What is 5C Laundry?
A: 5C Laundry was acquired by The Dirty Hamper in Upland, CA. We pick up dirty laundry and dry cleaning from various locations across the Claremont Colleges campus and the surrounding areas and bring the items back to our headquarters to process. We then deliver your clean laundry back to campus.
Q: Who does the actual laundry and dry cleaning?
A: The Dirty Hamper, located in Upland, CA, provides all laundry services at their headquarters. Dry cleaning services are sourced out to our local dry cleaning partners.
Q: What does the laundry truck look like?
A: The Laundry vans are rebranded as The Dirty Hamper. The vans are black in color with lime green writing.
Q: How soon will my laundry/dry cleaning be ready for pick-up?
A: Your laundry/dry cleaning will be done within 48 hours. This semester students can pickup/drop off MWF, but Friday dry cleaning drops will not be ready until Wednesday (laundry will be ready Monday). You can pick your laundry up at any truck location on campus. You can always give us a call/text at 619-663-9274 to check the status of your laundry or set up custom delivery.
Q: I want to use your dry-cleaning service, but I didn’t sign up for a semester-long plan. Can I still do so?
A: Yes, dry cleaning service is available to everyone on campus.
Q: After the laundry is folded, how do you keep it from wrinkling?
A: Laundry is folded immediately after it comes out of the dryer.
Q: My clothing requires special care. Will you ensure it is not damaged?
A: Yes, our partner laundry facility, The Dirty Hamper, has years of experience dealing with a variety of materials. If you have any delicates, they should be placed in your dry cleaning bag for special care. Place a note with the bag to let us know.
Q: I would like service, but cannot make it to the truck location at the regular time. Can I still get service?
A: Yes, please send an email to 5C Laundry to make arrangements for an alternative delivery times. If several students have request similar times then a new pickup/drop off can be added to the delivery schedule.
Q: I missed the laundry truck. What do I do?
A: College is busy and we understand that you may be late/early for pickup. If you have missed us, take a look at the schedule to see where are on campus. We will try to arrive at each location a minute or two early and leave a minute or two late.
Q: What happens if my clothing is damaged?
A: We have not had any issues with damage or lost items, but we are prepared to help. If you happen to put a delicate shirt in your laundry bag (instead of your dry cleaning bag) The Dirty Hamper will have that item dry cleaned (not laundered) and 5C Laundry will charge the student per item. In the event that an item is damaged/lost, we reimburse the student with the book value of that item (provided by The Dirty Hamper for an identical item in used condition). If this becomes a repeated issue, 5C Laundry reserves the right to terminate service and provide a prorated refund for unused service.
